Minnesota has a huge gathering every August, called the “State Fair”. Upwards of two million folks attend the 12 day happening. I’m one of the attendees most every year, enjoying the happy throngs, the music, food, vendors and events.
Being a lifelong haircutter, I’m also busy checking out haircuts. With daily attendance reaching close to 200,000, it’s a great place to see what’s happening in the wide world of haircuts. Being a careful observer, here is what I see:
Upwards of 75% of folks have haircuts that have been popular for many decades. These “Classic Cuts”, long medium and short, are the favorites year after year. No doubt the enduring popularity of these haircuts is due to the easy care they require. Spending only 5 to 10 minutes daily to have nice looking hair is a strong reason to continue with the Classics. The other 25% are people with shaved scalps, trendy or artsy hairdos, botched home haircuts, never cut hair that end up in pony-tails, braided or whatever.
Learning how to give popular low-maintenance haircuts guarantees your SUCCESS in the barber business, plus it gives you the skills it takes to give virtually any kind of haircut.
